Artist
Daan Hoekstra is an artist living in Sonora, Mexico. A painter of landscapes, still lifes and figurative work, he has exhibited widely in the United States and Mexico. Also a muralist, he has been commissioned to work in commercial, residential and religious settings.

Muralist
Daan Hoekstra has done murals for several prestigious clients, including the 5 star resort Hacienda de Los Santos in Alamos, Sonora, Mexico and the Parroquia del Sagrado Corazon in Navojoa, Sonora.
Hoekstra began painting murals when he worked as a buon fresco assistant for the artist Mark Balma in the 1980s, assisting on all phases of the project at St. Mary's College, from the slaking of lime, to grinding pigments, to actual painting and plastering.
Hoekstra is currently available to consider select projects.

Teacher
In 2004 Daan opened Atelier Sonorense in Navojoa, Sonora, a studio-school that focuses on the basics: cast drawing, cast painting and still life. The atelier plans to expand into figure drawing and painting in the near future and is considering a relocation to Alamos, Sonora, "the gem of the Sierra Madre."
